The internet was ablaze yesterday
\nwith talk of President Obama\u2019s
\nyouthful pot use. Which is odd,
\nconsidering the only thing atypical
\nabout Obama\u2019s high school years is how
\ncommon and relatable they seem.
\nRecent polling has shown support
\nfor marijuana legalization growing
\nexponentially. Just this month, 56%
\nof people responded in favor of legal-
\nization in a survey from Rasmussen
\nReports, with only 36% opposed. This
\nis just the latest in a continuing trend
\nof polling data demonstrating major-
\nity support for regulating cannabis. In
\nOctober 2011, a Gallup poll had 50%
\nsupport amongst those polled. Ending
\nthe war on cannabis consumers is no
\nlonger a political liability, it is a political
\npossibility. President Obama should use
\nthis opening to embrace reforming our
\ncountry\u2019s marijuana laws and encour-
\nage Congress to pass laws to facilitate
\nending the arrest of 850,000 American
\ncitizens a year.
\nIt is time for Barack to get in
\ntouch with his inner \u201cBarry\u201d and ad-
\nvocate for ending this country\u2019s war
\nagainst responsible adults who choose
\nto consume cannabis. The majority of
\nthis country is waiting for your opinion
\nto \u201cevolve\u201d on this issue, this could be
\nyour chance.
\nWe encourage you to make your
\nvoice heard as an American voter and let
\nthe White House know this is an issue
\nyou consider to be of importance in this
\nelection. It is time those in Washington
\nrealize supporting rational reforms to
\nour country\u2019s marijuana laws can win
\nthem support at the ballot box.
