At 5:30 PM<\/span><\/span> at City Hall, speakers will demand reopening of the Louden Nelson Center and San Lorenzo Bathrooms at City Council’s “Two Minutes Only!” Oral Communications period<\/b>.\u00a0 Show Up and Speak Up !<\/p>\n

\n

On Wednesday, June 13th<\/span><\/span>, HUFF<\/i> (Homeless United for Friendship & Freedom)<\/i> meets at 11 AM-1 PM<\/span><\/span> at the Sub Rosa Cafe to support Thursday’s<\/span><\/span> “Stop the Bathroom Busts!” protest.<\/p>\n

On Wednesday June 13th<\/span><\/span>, the annual Juneteenth celebration will be held at Louden Nelson Park noon-5 PM<\/span><\/span><\/b>, hopefully with bathrooms open.\u00a0 See https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/SantaCruzJuneteenth<\/a> for more information.<\/p>\n

Hour 2 – 10:00 \u2013 11:00 a.m.<\/span><\/span> \u2013 Paul Boden, field director for the Western Regional Advocacy Project on the \u201cRight To Rest\u201d and \u201cHousekeys Not Handcuffs\u201d movements; Amanda Brown-Hunter, head of an Amarillo homeless camp that is in hiding,<\/p>\n

Hour 3* \u2013 11:00 \u2013 noon<\/span><\/span> \u2013 \u201cHomelessness, Housing and Human Rights in DC\u201d \u2013 Guest Host, Parissa Nourouzi<\/p>\n

Hour 5* \u2013 1:00 \u2013 2:00 p.m.<\/span><\/span> \u2013 \u201cHomelessness and the Indigenous Peoples of North America.\u201d Guest Host, Derrick Toledo<\/p>\n

Hour 6 \u2013 2:00 \u2013 3:00 p.m.<\/span><\/span> \u2013 Helena Liikanen-Renger, Press Counselor for the Embassy of Finland will discuss how it happens that Finland is housing all of its rough sleepers, while the rest of Europe is in a homelessness crisis.<\/p>\n

Hour 7* \u2013 3:00 \u2013 4:00 p.m.<\/span><\/span> \u2013 \u201cWe Got The Power: Lessons in the Fight Against Poverty for Women and Girls\u201d \u2013 Guest Host, Carmen Berkley<\/p>\n

Hour 8 \u2013 4:00 \u2013 5:00 p.m.<\/span><\/span> \u2013 Attorney Jason Flores, who is suing Denver on behalf of the homeless. Then journalist and activist Mike Rhodes with an update on homelessness in Fresno.<\/p>\n

Hour 9 \u2013 5:00 \u2013 6:00 p.m.<\/span><\/span> \u2013 A conversation with Bill Higgins, a former submarine officer who became homeless (right before Trump took office, he told us how happy he was that Ben Carson was to be HUD Secretary, but that\u2019s not what he says today). Then, attorney Judith Berkan, will speak from Puerto Rico on hurricane recovery.<\/p>\n

Hour 10* \u2013 6:00 \u2013 7:00 p.m.<\/span><\/span> \u2013 Homeless Faculty and Students in Higher Education. Guest hosts, Corrine Ruff and Shalina Chatlani.<\/p>\n

Hour 11 \u2013 7:00 p.m.- 8:00 p.m.<\/span><\/span> \u2013 Kent Anderson, Chief High Risk Services Officer, Waikiki Health, will report some facts on just how young kids there are when they become homeless and what happens to them. Then a look at homelessness in Portland, ME.<\/p>\n

Hour 8:00 p.m. \u2013 9:00 p.m.<\/span><\/span>\u00a0\u2013 \u201cA DC Street Poet, His Reflections and His Lawsuit.\u201d Then Richard Tripp\u2019s Taxi to Heaven, a memorial for homeless advocates who have died since our last broadcast, Richard Tripp among them.<\/p>\n
