The loader was tearing down a tent when someone warned the operator that there was a person still inside the tent.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size: x-large;\"><br \/>\n<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-size: x-large;\">Officials say the woman suffered minor injuries, and she was treated at the scene.<\/span><\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\"><\/div>\n<div dir=\"ltr\">\n<p><strong>Four Months after the Closure of the \u201cJungle\u201d:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>STILL NO PLACE TO GO FOR SILICON VALLEY\u2019S HOMELESS<\/p>\n<p><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Sponsored by CHAM and H.O.M.E.L.E.S.S., a group of homeless people,<\/p>\n<p>advocates, and people of faith will gather at the former site of the<\/p>\n<p>\u201cJungle\u201d homeless encampment at <span data-term=\"goog_1687786165\">12 noon<\/span> on Cesar Chavez Day, <span data-term=\"goog_1687786166\">Tuesday<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-term=\"goog_1687786167\">March 31<\/span>.<\/p>\n<p>We will speak out about the injury of a homeless woman last Friday while<\/p>\n<p>Caltrans was bulldozing her tent in a \u201cclean-up\u201d near Story Road.<\/p>\n<p>Thousands of Silicon Valley\u2019s homeless still have no place to lay their<\/p>\n<p>heads <span data-term=\"goog_1687786168\">tonight<\/span>, almost four months after the Jungle was destroyed by the<\/p>\n<p>City of San Jose on <span data-term=\"goog_1687786169\">December 4<\/span>. In fact, the situation will get worse on<\/p>\n<p><span data-term=\"goog_1687786170\">Wednesday<\/span>, when the County winter shelter program discharges an<\/p>\n<p>additional estimated 270 homeless out onto the streets.<\/p>\n<p>People who were evicted from the Jungle have moved and been<\/p>\n<p>displaced over and over with no end in sight. Some moved to the<\/p>\n<p>Walmart parking lot, then Roberts Road, then south of Tully, then to<\/p>\n<p>Phelan at the railroad tracks, then to north of Tully, then to Monterey<\/p>\n<p>Highway, then to Almaden Road, and they are still moving.<\/p>\n<p>When questioned by the Board of Supervisors on March 24, County<\/p>\n<p>officials stated that there are some 5300-5400 homeless for whom there<\/p>\n<p>is no housing or shelter available. When asked for their plan to address<\/p>\n<p>this situation, they responded, \u201cThere is no proposal at this time.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Having no proposal to house or shelter the homeless is not acceptable in<\/p>\n<p>the richest area in the world. A five-year plan is not acceptable, because<\/p>\n<p>people have no place to go right now.
