At Ye Olde City Hall 809 Center St. in the public commons area until it becomes privatized at 10 PM<\/span><\/span>, and then onto the sidewalks!<\/p>\n

The actual event time extends through the night and begins in the afternoon when unhoused folks are gathering (often to be harassed by police and security guards). The time can extend into late Wednesday<\/span><\/span> morning when the harassment has often renewed. City authorities have banned the public from using the grassy areas to rest on during the day, and the entire courtyard area at night.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n

SANTA CRUZ HOMELESS SHIVER ON IN 21ST PROTEST
\nHuddling around the coffee pot, cuddling up in blankets and sleeping bags, occasionally munching PBJ sandwiches, rousing ourselves to remonstrate with police and security thugs when they come (as last week) to drive a sleeper out into the rain…<\/p>\n

ASSEMBLY OF THOSE OUTSIDE AT RED CHURCH
\nSpecial pre-protest Organizing Meeting (refreshments MAY be available) in the Support Room of the Red Church (Cedar and Lincoln 5:30-6:30 PM<\/span><\/span>.<\/p>\n

Though open two nights via private charity efforts, Warming Centers have received zero support this winter from the Santa Cruz City Council–which postponed until January any further discussion of the issue.<\/p>\n

Freedom Sleepers will be discussing what protests or other measures need to be taken to provide some survival street heat. The main purpose is to support the rights of unsheltered people in public spaces, build a coalition, and educate the community. Additionally some want to gauge how much support there is for continued Freedom Sleep-Out’s and consider other alternatives.<\/p>\n

The hour long meeting will be followed by vigiling, picketing, singing, socializing, & surviving another Tuesday<\/span><\/span> Freedom Sleep-Out night.<\/p>\n

BERKELEY BLACK LIVES MATTER JOINS FIRST-THEY-CAME-FOR-THE-HOMELESS IN TUESDAY<\/span><\/span> RALLY
\nFollowing up on a weeklong nightly sleepout outside Old City Hall, houseless folks and their supporters, there will be a rally and march to the 7 PM<\/span><\/span> City Council meeting there. At issue: three anti-homeless ordinances and a spineless report about the Berkeley Police and their actions during the Black Lives Matters protests a year ago when people were tear gassed, shot at with bean-bag rounds and struck with batons.<\/p>\n

\nSanta Cruz Supporters of the Freedom SleepOut are encouraged to bring blankets, food, friends, and video devices. Last time police dragged off a homeless man trying to sleep out of the rain next to the City Council offices. (See http:\/\/www.indybay.org\/newsitems\/2015\/11\/26\/18780377.php<\/a> )<\/p>\n
