HUFF, Food Not Bombs, People’s Aid, and other groups will be gathering at 5 p.m. Thursday to challenge the Cruel Sweeps of the Homeless and the Trashing of their Survival Gear.\u00a0 These police search-and-destroy missions are ongoing in a town with no shelter or storage facilities for the majority of those living outside.\u00a0 The strategy\u2014particularly in the wake of the Supreme Court’s destruction of the lower court’s Martin v. Boise\u00a0protections\u2014is to terrorize the unhoused out of town, out of sight, and into warehouse facilities which require abandoning their property and usually lead back to the street.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

At an earlier rally at the Galleria demanding answers from FM boss Phil Kramer and Mayor Keeley , FNB\u00a0activist Keith McHenry was served with a stay away order for protesting outside and trying to enter.\u00a0 On Monday January 27, he was arrested for seeking to document the police and Cal-Tran sweeps that Kramer\u00a0 praised.\u00a0 McHenry faces a potential 1 year in jail and $1000 fine for peaceful protest.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n
