CONSCIENCE AND ACTION meets at 10 AM followed by HUFF at 11 on Wednesday 10-31) in Halloween Hooplah to plan Community Survival Camp in November

HUFF [Homeless United for Friendship & Freedom] will meet Wednesday, 10-31-18 11 AM at the Sub Rosa next to the Bike Church.   Conscience and Action  meets the same day at the same place at 10 AM  (an hour before the HUFFmeet).

  • Expanded endorsements for the Campground Action
  • Possible legal ramifications of the Campground Action
  • Outreach to and Input from the Unhoused Community
  • Bathroom Battleplans–Next Steps in the Struggle for Safe Shitting:

                     +++ “Get Into the Bathroom Free” Codes Distributed to the Rabble
                   +++ Reviewing Ursula’s “Vanishing Vandalism” Analysis

                   +++ Mocking the Meanness with Street Theater and/or Radio Play
  • “If Only They Had Organized…”–Response to the Latest Sudden Closure Announcement of the Barbedwire Boneyard River St. Campground
  • Forming a Chapter of the Santa Cruz Union of the Homeless to join Salinas, Marysville and other state Chapters allied with the Poor People’s Campaign
  • Civil Rights Watch for the Unhoused Majority Facing the Usual Dispersal and Harassment as Winter Approaches
  • Follow-up and lead-up actions in the Bathroom Battle: Knockin on Tony Elliot’s door (the new P & R czar).
  • Seeking Answers from Police Chief Andy Mills for his Latest “Trespass/Closed Area/Camping Ban” Citation Strategy
  • Strategies for Resistance: Advice to Homeless Sleepers Facing Cop Rousts
  • Independent HUFF strategy for shifting the dialogue from Token Winter Shelter to Broad Support for Homeless Encampments

  •   Support the Downtown Santa Cruz Bathroom Task Force, Food Not Bombs,  the Warming Center’s 24 Hour Storage Program, HUFF, Conscience and Action, Monterey County Homeless Advocates, and other activists in documenting, providing resources, & publicizing the situation.

  •   Back up homeless efforts to organize either in protest or to demand adequate and accessible facilities.
