SANTA CRUZ HOMELESS UNION, FOOD NOT BOMBS  [FNB] , and HUFF  meet Monday Aug 8 at 6 PM at the Resource Center for Non-Violence  (612 Ocean) to discuss Resistance Strategies  as the  Summer ‘s End demolition threats loom larger.

Police and their City Council backers have made few if any significant  reforms since the Black Lives Matter marches of 2020.  Transparency, accountability, demilitarization, ending racial and class discrimination, are all on the HUFF  agenda.

The failure of the SCPD and the state Department of Justice to make explicit, public, and accessible the Use of Force standards as required by state law is still another unmentioned scandal which we hope to be covering in future and encourage the public to speak out about.

On the 8-7-22 show: (7-27)  What’s next in the struggle to protect vehicular Homes-on-Wheels: the conclusion of the Reggie Meisler interview.
(8-6)    Katzenjammer Keith McHenry’s Sparce Update

(8-6)   Phone Interview with “Scope it Out” Scott Graham on the 8-9 Santa Cruz Shitty Council Meeting’s Agenda

(8-1) “Jus’ Sayin'” Jesse on the sidewalk Chess scene in Berkeley

(8-2) Bravin’ the Blueshirts with “Buff up the Badge” Deputy Chief John Bush at the National Nightout Police PR promenade last Tuesday

(8-2) “Jolly ’em Along” Jones gives his Lieutenant’s response to the rumors of Summer’s End Benchland sweep

(8-1)  “Roadway” Roger on the People’s Park Scene two days before UCB’s destruction of the trees.

(8-5)  “Live and Let Live” Leaf on life in the park during the protests (8-5)  “Can’t Shut Me Up” Kenny on the politics behind the persecution

(8-6)  “Mess With Me Not” Max Ventura: Longer Phone Interview on the background and the foreground of the People’s Park struggle.

SANTA CRUZ SHITTY COUNCIL still refuses to fund or even permit independent low-barrier agreement or transitional camps, nor to fund FNB  or the Footbridge Services Program.

Call 575-770-3377  or 431-7766 to volunteer for the SC Homeless Union   desperately in need of new blood and leadership with the time, passion, and resources to organize!  President Alicia Kuhl still takes concerns and complaints.

Especially important with the City Manager’s avowed threat to disperse the Benchlands camp this summer.  Also notable: City Council’s failure to use the $14.5 million to set up survival campgrounds and support those that exist!

HUFF STILL MEETS EVERY THURSDAY (NEXT MEETING 8-11) TO SCHEME & STARGAZE.  COFFEE & CONTROVERSY AT THE SUB ROSA COURTYARD 10:45 AM-1 PM THURSDAYS NEXT TO THE BIKE CHURCH AT 703 PACIFIC AVE.

Stop SCPD and City Manager Initiated Sweeps of the Benchlands !

Police have begun incremental removal of tent-homes in and around the Benchlands.

This seems in line with City Manager Matt Huffaker’s threat/promise to “demobilize” (i.e. remove) the Benchlands by summer’s end.
HUFF (Homeless United for Friendship & Freedom) will be at the National Night Out at the SCPD Headquarters starting at 3:30 PM Tuesday August 2nd, speaking sense to the community and the cops.
Join us.
